Thoughts about DNS

So as many of you know, I’ve been in IT for more that 20 years, and have been responsible for many technical areas including hostmaster and DNS responsibilities.

I’ve played about with DNS for many many years until I recently read a review of the next generation of DNS, so I signed up for a free account here.

After a month of trialing it (at no cost) my thoughts were that it was worth spending the $29.90 fee for 12 months.

So what do I think? The short answer is this – is it worth $29.90? Yes definitely. Should I spend money when I can get DNS for free from my internet provider, again yes because no internet provider offers the filtering and advanced options that are provided by the next generation of DNS. (that I know of and I know a thing or two about DNS).

Dad is going to be fine (and that’s a huge relief).

I keep my personal life very quiet and away from the internet (sorry but that’s how I like it).

Last week, dad had dizziness and blurred vision in his left eye. After a trip to his General Practitioner (family doctor), and subsequently an MRI – which showed a brain tumor (very very small). Dad’s sense of what is on his left side was slightly affected as well, and dad had a minor car crash with a builder’s skip (large bin).

On Monday this week, dad had a biopsy performed and a small amount of this tumor was taken. Whilst it’s too early to say whether its malignant or benign, the kind of tumor is one that responds well to radiotherapy, and as such, dad won’t need further surgery to remove this tumor.
