Big arsed speakers

So I finally got around to buying two big arsed speakers for my home theater (7.1 surround).

These big arsed speakers will go at the back of my couch, and provide 5.1 sound as opposed to my 3.1 sound currently (yeah, I know I’ve got a 7.1 system – so shut up).

Anyhoo, here’s what they will look like when they arrive on August 5th.

Obviously, they’re bigger than the image, so yeah shut up.

(Un)forunately, I’m still here folks…

Yeah, I know what you’re saying, but this is my site, so yeah – deal with it!

So yes dear readers, I’m still here, and I’m still at Tabcorp!

Why Tabcorp still you ask? Well, it’s a really good place to work for, so I here for a long long while!

I’ve also managed to avoid the whole covid thing, so after getting my 4th booster shot (yeah I know, given that I’m a total wuss with needles/injections/whatever) I’m still as cranky as ever!

I’ve also decided to let my hair grow long – I’ll take a photo at the end of Winter, needless to say I probably should look at buying some kind of elastic thing to tie my hair back (take that everyone at school who simply gave me shit for my curly hair!)

Your name? Your occupation? And your specialist topic? – an update

Well, this month (24th May), yours truly appears on the SBS Australia show of Mastermind.

How did I go?

Did I freeze up?

Or

Did I totally blitz my episode/show/thing?

Well, I can’t say I’m afraid.

What I can do, however, is provide you with an excuse to claw at your eyes until you’ve successfully removed your eyeballs.

Are you still here?

Can you still see?

Well, you can’t say I didn’t warn you.

Oh Apple, it seems that OS 12.3 (Monterey) is just really shitty….

Look, I know that Apple has had wonderous successes with hardware, but when it comes to software, I just wouldn’t piss on Monterey – like it’s seriously fucked up.

I will buy a MacBook Pro this year – I just have a few things about my house that need fixing first, but https://www.macrumors.com/2022/03/17/macos-monterey-bricking-macs-logic-boards/ and https://www.macrumors.com/2022/03/24/external-display-issues-reported-macos-12-3/ make me very very hesitant to do so.

So it’s 2 major issues, albeit, the first one deals with an existing Mac that has a borked logic board, but to not even boot into this new version of MacOS is just either lazy or down right shameless.

The second issue deals with the Mac not recognizing the external display – something that would really suck.

I’ve often commented about the attitude by marketing types who are obsessed with being first to market, but when you can’t even boot your whizz bang new OS, that’s just fucked plain and simple.

Your name? Your occupation? and your specialist topic?

Well, I had a fantastic time at the SBS studios in Sydney on Friday 4th March!

The day was a bit of a blur, with me having to wake at 4:45am to shower, shave and travel to Melbourne airport to catch the 7:15am flight to Sydney.

Sydney was, well Sydney. Raining, hot as hell, and about 90% humidity – bleaugh.

The day was a bit of a blur, but like I said, I had a ball!

I flew back to Melbourne the same day, and at the end of it all, got home at about 10:30pm and went to bed at 11pm.

How did I go? Well, you’ll have to wait until my episode is broadcast (I think sometime in April).

Well I’ll be on TV’s Mastermind on SBS

Autographs are available on request!

Seriously though, I’m excited and nervous (nercited?) about this.

This Friday (March 4th) is the date that I’ll fly up to Sydney (eeeewwww) – I haven’t seen Sydney since just after my birthday in 2008 so yeah.

Anyhoo, I’ll get to the SBS studio on Friday for the recording of the quiz show and who knows, I might end up being Australia’s next smart arse, I mean Mastermind!

Ooooh! Shiny!

Well ladies and gentlemen, my new printer arrived today, and I’ve got to say that I’m impressed!

So it’s goodbye to the old workhorse Brother MFC-9125CN, which only had a fixed ethernet card, and rather than risking tripping over the cable to my router (which is in the lounge room where I work, and the printer was in a spare room – don’t ask, it’s not worth asking about) I can now print wirelessly (I wonder if all these WI-FI rays are going to give me brain cancer or something lol).

My old printer lasted 10 years, which I’m very very very thankful for.

So it’s hello to my shiny new Brother MFC-L3770CDW! Mmmmmm shiny and ohhh so quiet too.

Now, to figure out how to get duplexing working on my new printer…..

So long Telstra!

It’s been 2 months since I moved my phone number away from Telstra, and I have just felt free!

I was just sick and tired of their bullshit ways over charging like a wounded bull for a simply shit service.

Telstra used to be good, way back in the day – now they’re relying on people’s ignorance and apathy, as well as the reputation as being the best. News flash: Telstra is expensive and just shit.

So it’s fuck you Telstra and hello Vodafone!

Apple has borked Bluetooth when you put your Mac to sleep it seems

So, Apple has borked their latest MacOS update badly it appears.

From Macrumors:

Affected users say their Mac’s battery life drops from 100% to 0% while in sleep mode overnight since updating to macOS 12.2. A few users tried to identify a cause in Terminal and found that Bluetooth accessories are frequently causing a “DarkWake from Deep Idle” that results in the Mac repeatedly waking from sleep, which drains the battery. The issue appears to be affecting both Intel-based Macs and M1-based Macs.
